Recent Grants

Since the remit of The Trust allows it to support healthy sporting activities throughout Scotland, The Trustees have decided to raise funds for Junior Golf in Ayrshire from an Inaugural Biennial Ayrshire Grand Golf Ball at Trump Turnberry on 31st August 2019, referred to below.

Anticipating this further support of Junior Golf in Ayrshire, The Trust has made the following Grants:

Royal Troon Golf Club Junior Golf Initiative Winter 2018/2019 Programme with Troon Primary School – £5,135.

The Coaching Team at RTGC, lead by Head Professional, Kieron Stevenson,. are delivering the Golphin primary school golf programme, “MyPathway2Golf”, using Golphin junior golf clubs and coaching aids. This involved delivering 60 hours of in-curriculum coaching at Troon Primary School in October and November 2018 with all 15 classes from P1 to P7 participating, leading on to after-school sessions at Troon Primary in January, February and March 2019. Approachig 60 children have already signed up to join the new 5-11 year old membership at Royal Troon called, “Royal Troon’s School of Golf” that will start in April 2019

“The generosity and support from SJS&HT has helped our health , wellbeing and education programme reach out to hundreds of children in the Troon area. Working  in partnership with the PGA pros at Royal Troon is helping children discover golf. Boys and girls aged 5 to 11 are now flocking to the family friendly Kids at Royal Troon club to join up “ 

 

Junior County Team Challenge for Ayrshire and five neighbouring Counties    £1,800.

Winners 2018 – Renfrewshire Rebels with Golphin Founder Calum McPherson and Manager from co sponsor Arnold Clark

Organised by Golphin and the RTGC Professional Team on October 7th 2018, 6 young juniors from each county took part in a Team Challenge, comprised of Skill Games in the morning then 3-ball Texas scrambles with at least one girl in each team, played on the RTGC Craigend course.
